Saola by artist Ngo Xuan Khoi was selected as the mascot of the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam.
According to the announcement of the General Department of Physical Education and Sports today, November 19, Saola’s work was selected because it met the criteria such as layout, aesthetics and meaning.
The Saola in the wild is known as the “Asian Unicorn” and is in danger of extinction. They only live in remote mountainous areas of Central Truong Son Vietnam and Southern Laos. Sao la has a length of about 1.3 meters to 1.5 meters; 0.9 meters tall and weighs about 100 kg. They have dark brown fur, long, slender horns that point straight back and can be up to 51 cm long.
